No Love is Too Small -- Chapter Five

by Erynn

A/N: Here's chapter five of the story, and it starts to delve into male-pregnancy full on. I have yet to decide what the sex of the baby or babies (people have been suggesting twins) and the name/names will be, but I have decided who will pregnant. It was a fan-based decision, so I hope you like the outcome. Happy Reading and EnjoY! -- Erynn.

He could hear something. A noise in the distance, he couldn't quite tell what it was, or where it was coming from, but it was getting louder...much, much louder. Then, it hit him: it was a blaring sound, like an alarm of some sort. With one swift move of his head, he turned to his alarm clock and blew it off the nightstand, making it crash to the floor in four big pieces. Groaning, he moved his head back and snuggled closer to the person lying next to him. Eyes barely open, he looked at his husband, sleeping beside him peacefully without a care in the world. Clark envied Lex for being so calm all of the time, and Lex envied Clark for his strength & passion for life. Clark kissed Lex's forehead before trying to resume his slumber, but he couldn't; something was keeping him awake. Without warning, he began to cough, like something was caught in his throat. He sat up from his former position, thinking that it would help; however, the coughing didn't end. He continued to cough, harder and harder every time. Soon, he began to feel very nauseous, and in a flash, he ran to the bathroom, promptly throwing up all that was in his stomach. This wasn't normal, or at least, he didn't think it was. He got up believing that he felt better; nevertheless, it didn't work. He threw up more, causing red spots to form all over his chest and face. He didn't know what to do, so he opened the door with all of the power he had left, moaning repeatedly, "Lex! Lex, help! Lex!" The tall gent, still asleep, heard the sounds of his husband's voice and awoke lightly, eyes flickering open to see the early morning world. Lex looked around to see where Clark was and all he saw was the opened bathroom door and someone's hand hanging outside of it. "Lex, help..." was the last thing that Clark could get out before the wind was knocked out him and he collapsed on the restroom floor. Quickly, Lex swung the door open, seeing his husband inside lying on the white tiles. Kneeling down to him, he noticed that Clark was unconscious and bright red. He placed his hand on his lover's forehead and felt the heat radiating off of it. "God, Clark, you're burning up!" He spoke loudly. "Clark? Clark! CLARK!! Clark, can you hear me? Please, wake up, honey! Please wake up! Please wake up for me." Lex suddenly remembered what to do with someone who had a high fever: lay them in a bath of cold water. He did exactly that, and with all of his might, he put Clark into the bathtub, plugged the tub drain off and started the cold water with shower nozzle on, allowing the water to fill the tub around Clark. Lex got up from his place on the floor and went for his cell phone. He was going to dial 911, but he knew that if Clark went to the hospital, they'd draw his blood and find out his secret. So, he dialed another number, awaiting the answer on the other end of the line. "Martha Kent." a soft voice stated in the receiver. "Martha, its Lex! You have to get home as fast as you can!" He replied frantically. "Why, Lex? What's going on?"
"It's Clark!"
"Clark? What about Clark?"
"I found him unconscious on the bathroom floor. He's burning up!" "Oh my God! Lex, where is he right now?" "I was going to take him to the hospital, but I know that I can't, so he's in the bathtub. I turned the cold water on to cool him down." "That's good, Lex. Keep him cool. We're leaving on the helicopter now!" "Okay, see you when you get here."
Hanging up with each other, both knew that Clark was their number one priority and they had to keep him alive.
Almost two hours had passed since Lex made his phone call to Martha and Jonathan, and Clark still hadn't cooled down. After getting some clothes on, Lex sat on the floor next to the tub, squeezing cold water onto Clark's head, neck and body, as he continued to lay motionless in the bathtub. Suddenly, the coughing started again, and Clark began to move around. His eyes flickered and opened fully, taking in all of the light they could. Lex moved over to him and took his hand feeling the clamminess of it. "Clark..." He whispered cautiously. "Clark..." "Lex..." He let out breathlessly. "Let me out of here." "No, Clark, I can't do that; you're burning up. It's impossible." "I need to see Jor-El; he'll know what to do. He'll know what's wrong with me." "Clark, you can't go see him; you have a high fever. Don't you get it? You cannot leave!" "I have to go!"
When Clark started to get out of the tub, Lex tried to keep him down, but it was no use; Clark was too strong for him, even though he was sick. Clark stumbled out of the bath, clothes dripping wet from the water, and made his way down the stairs, holding himself up with the help of the walls and the banister. Lex followed close behind him, grabbing a jacket for Clark to wear to cover up his wet clothes. Lex stopped dead in his tracks as soon as he left the house. Clark was in the middle of the driveway engulfed in a white light, floating in the air like some kind of an angel. "Clark! Clark!!" Lex shouted as he ran to where his lover was. "CLARK!!" He reached for him, but the shroud shocked him, sending him into their truck hard, knocking him out cold. Jonathan and Martha arrived at the farm, just as the light flashed and Clark disappeared. Martha raced over to Lex, who was still unconscious on the ground next to the automobile, while Jonathan went into the house frantically shouting his son's name. "Oh, God..." She stated as she started to lightly shake her son-in-law awake. "Lex, please wake up! Lex!" It was no use. Lex was down for the count; fortunately, he was still breathing. Jonathan came out of the house quickly and ran over to the barn to see if Clark was in the loft, but he wasn't there either. He quickly moved back to where Martha was. "How is he?" He inquired as he tried to catch his breath. "Jon, he's unconscious; we need to get him to the hospital. Where's Clark?" She questioned back. "He's not here."
"I'm getting scared. Where would he go?" "Right now, I don't know. But, what I do know is that we need to get Lex some help."
When they reached Smallville Medical Center, the doctors took Lex into the trauma room and looked at him. After a couple of minutes, the head e.r. doctor came out into the waiting area, where Jonathan and Martha were sitting. He was a new physician to the town and he didn't know of the Kents or of Clark & Lex at all. "Mr. and Mrs. Kent?" The physician questioned. "I'm Dr. Kenneth Klein. Mr. Luthor is under my care." "It's nice to meet you, Doctor. How's Lex, is he going to be alright?" Martha wondered. "He's stable, but still unconscious. Do either of you know how this happened?" "Doctor, we were in Metropolis for the weekend. I started to feel homesick, so we decided to come back early." "When we arrived at the house, we found Lex lying on the ground, unconscious." Jonathan responded as well. "Why was he at your home, when you weren't there?" "Lex is our son-in-law." Martha answered. "He's allowed in our home whenever he likes." Jonathan added. "Did you need to call your daughter to tell her about Mr. Luthor?" "Dr. Klein, we don't have a daughter; we have a son." "But, your wife just said that he was your son-in-law." "Yes, he is. Dr. Klein, you haven't been in Kansas very long, have you?" "No, I haven't; I'm originally from Montana. What do I need to know that I don't already know?" "Dr. Klein, the state of Kansas passed a law, where gay couples can be married to each other. Our son, Clark, is married to Lex legally." Martha retorted with a soft smile. "Wow, I didn't know; I'm sorry."
"Don't be," Jonathan replied. "We love both our son and our son-in-law. They are two great men." "I bet they are, sir. Now that we have that covered, where is Clark?" "We have been calling him," Martha answered. "His cell phone is off right now." "Keep trying and don't worry, Lex is going to be fine. I'll be back around to check on him later." "Can we see him?"
"Sure, I don't see why not."
"Thank you, Dr. Klein." Jonathan said to him. "Thank you, Doctor." Martha added.
"You're welcome." The practitioner ended as he walked away from the couple. As soon as Dr. Klein was out of sight, Martha turned to her husband and stated, "Jonathan, we need to find Clark and fast." "I know, Martha, but we have to worry about Lex as well." He replied. "The last person we need involved in this right now, is Lionel Luthor." "But, he is Lex's father."
"Some father? I've been more of a father to that boy than him." "I know you care for Lex, Jonathan, and that's why I love you so much. You are so compassionate." "Thank you, sweetheart."
Out of nowhere, a pain began to rise in Jonathan's chest. It was a calling from Jor-El and he knew it. Suddenly, he heard a voice inside of his head whisper, "It's time for you to see your son, Jonathan Kent. Come to me; I will guide you." "Martha, I have to go." He stated to her. "Why? Where are you going, Jonathan?" She questioned. "Jor-El is calling me; he has Clark."
"How do you know?"
"I just know, sweetheart; stay here with Lex. I have my cell phone. Call me if he wakes up." "I will, honey. Be safe and make sure Clark is okay." "I will. I love you."
"I love you, too."
After a quick hug and kiss, the couple separated and went their own ways.
Jonathan made his way into the caves, knowing exactly where to go. When he reached the spot where the portal would be, he noticed a white light emitting from it. "Jonathan Kent," Jor-El announced. "You are the earth nurturer of Kal-El. I believe that you are honorable and you have elevated Kal-El to be a vigorous being. Now, you must assist Kal-El in the decision he has made." "What decision did he make, Jor-El?" He questioned in return, shading his eyes from the bright light with his arm. "Kal-El came to me and sought to prove himself worthy of being a breeder." "What?"
"Kal-El has passed the trial and now, he will become the vessel for the offspring he will create with his soul mate here on Earth." "Are you serious?"
"He is already with child. You and Martha Kent, your mate, must now help guide Kal-El and his mate along through the trials and tribulations of childbearing." Following that, there was a bright flash of light and Jonathan fell to the ground hard. Getting up from the dirt soon after that, he saw his son lying on the ground nearby. Crawling over to him, Jonathan began to shake him awake, saying, "Clark. Clark, wake up! Clark!" Suddenly, Clark's eyes flickered open and a couple of coughs erupted from his chest. "Dad..." he spoke lightly. "Dad, where am I?" "Clark, we're in the caves. God am I glad you're alive!" He hugged his son close, making sure that he didn't choke him or stop him from breathing. "Dad, how did I get here?" The younger Kent questioned. "Son, Jor-El brought you here. He said that you came to him to become a breeder." Jonathan replied. "What's going on?" "Dad, I went to him, because I wanted Lex and I to have a child, and some Kryptonian men give up their lives to become breeders for their wives, when they can't have children. I never thought he'd actually allow me to go through with it." "Apparently, he didn't understand that, because he said that you are 'with child'." "Lex and I are going to have a baby?"
"It seems that way, yes."
"I can't believe it...I'm pregnant."
"Clark, let's take you home."
"Alright, Dad; is Mom at home right now?" "No, son, she's not; she's at the hospital with Lex." "Why? What happened to Lex?"
"He was knocked unconscious somehow back at the farmhouse." "What?"
"Clark, let's take you home to rest. I don't want you to lose that baby." "No, Dad, I want to see Lex. Dad, you have to let me see him." "Okay, we'll go and see, but not for a long time. You need to get some rest. You got me?" "Yeah, I got you, Dad."
Jonathan helped Clark up to his feet and they started to walk out of the caves. When they got outside into the sunshine of the day, Clark began to feel nauseous again. He doubled in pain and promptly threw up again. He wiped off his mouth with his sleeve, before looking up at his father, who was smiled at him. "Ahh, morning sickness," Jonathan stated to his son. "It should pass, son; don't worry." "'It should pass', Dad? What do you mean?" He inquired nervously. "Don't get all worked up, Clark. It's just that I was always told that if morning sickness ends early on in a pregnancy, the person's going to have a girl, and if it doesn't end for a good bit of the time, they're having a boy." "Great. Let's wish for a girl then."
Jonathan chuckled, continuing to help his son to the truck and inside of it. On their way to the hospital, the older Kent smiled to himself, amazed that he was going to be a grandfather for the first time in his life, thanks to his son and his son-in-law.
