He was in pain. He didn't know how he got hurt or when could've gotten hurt, but he knew something had happened to him. As he opened his eyes, everything was bright and very blurry. His mouth was dry and somehow, he was breathing. He tried to sit up, nevertheless he was too weak. He couldn't handle the pain and it wasn't like him to feel any. He turned his head to the side to see Lex, dressed in blue jeans and a nice purple long-sleeved collared shirt, sitting in the chair next to his bed. He was asleep, or at least, he had his eyes closed. Clark reached for his husband's hand, touching it softly. With a soft yawn, Lex awoke and glanced up to see the love of his life, softly smiling at him. Clark wasn't able to speak; all he could do was use his eyes to say what he could not.
"Hey, you," the gentleman spoke up, leaning closer to his lover. "You gave all of us a scare, you know that?"
He placed his hand on Clark's cheek and cherished it softly.
"Don't try to speak, sweetheart." He retorted quietly. "The nurses have to come in and take the tube out. When you collapsed, you stopped breathing, and they had to put that in."
Clark watched intentfully as Lex continued talking to him, "Your parents told me everything. They told me you were pregnant. You know, when I first heard them say it, I couldn't believe it. I didn't think a man could even get pregnant, but then, I thought about it. You're Kryptonian and you can become whatever your destiny allows you to become. You chose to be a breeder, to have our children, and for that, I thank you. If I ever lost you and the baby, Clark, I don't know what I'd do. I love you."
Just as he said that, a lonely tear feel down Clark's cheek. Lex brushed the droplet away, smiling at him again.
"Don't cry, hun. I'm gonna be here for you and our child for a long time. We are together forever and for always, remember?"
Clark shook his head 'yes' softly, as the hospital door opened to reveal Dr. Klein and two nurses behind him.
"Well, it looks like our coma patient is a coma patient no more." The physician spoke up. "Are you ready to get that tube out of there, Clark?"
He shook his head up and down slightly, while the nurses scurried about in the room, prepping for the removal process.
"Okay, Mr. Kent," the blonde nurse stated as she moved next to the hospital bed. "We are going to turn off the air machine and disconnect the air source from the tube. After that is finished, we will start removing the tube from your body. Before we pull it, I will count to three. At three, try and cough as hard as you can, and after that, you will be able to breathe on your own again. Do you understand what I am telling you?"
Clark shook his head up and down again, letting them know his answer. The other nurse, a short brunette, ushered Lex out of the room, not allowing any spectators in the room. As soon as he left the space, she shut the door and the procedure started. Lex hoped Clark was going to be alright and he also hoped nothing was wrong with the baby.

An hour passed, and Dr. Klein came back to check on Clark again. The two lovebirds inside were talking about all of the things they needed to get for the baby. They stopped their conversation, when they saw the physician standing before them.
"Well, Clark, I just got your blood work back, and there's something wrong with it." He spoke lightly.
"What? What's wrong with it?" Clark questioned back.
"It shows that you are pregnant and I know that a man can't be pregnant; it's anatomically impossible."
"It's not impossible, if you're not human." Lex responded, knowing his husband would have said it as well.
"What? What are you talking about?"
Lex shut the hospital room door, and looked to his lover, "Clark, hun, you're gonna have to explain it to the good doctor. I think he should know."
"No, Lex, he already knows." Clark replied back.
"How...how could he already know?"
"Because he's Kryptonian, and he was sent here to help me."
Just as he said that, a white light surrounded the doctor, changing him into a luminescent orb, and without warning, a voice entered the minds of all three men.
"Ken-Yel, reveal thyself to Kal-El and his life-mate. They can be trusted and they need your wisdom & knowledge for their pending arrival." Jor-El sounded.
"Kal-El, I am Ken-Yel, a fellow breeder and a healer. I too was in your position. My wife and I could not have children, so I had them for her. Now, it is my task to help you have yours." The physician answered.
"Why didn't you tell us who you were in the beginning?" Clark inquired.
"Kal-El, I was not told of your heritage until Jor-El contacted me. When you collapsed, I had to keep my cover as Dr. Klein for the rest of the staff of this facility. Now that you know the truth, you must keep this all a secret. I'll be with you both throughout the pregnancy as a friend, a doctor and as someone, who has been where you both are in life."
As the light disappeared, Dr. Klein turned back into his human form.
"Well, Clark, I think, since you are pregnant, it's a good time for you & Lex to see your child." He spoke up, as he moved over to the ultrasound machine and pulled it close to Clark's bed. "I'm going to grab a nurse and we'll get on our way."
As Ken walked out of the room, he went to the nurse's station and found the blonde nurse, who helped to remove Clark's breathing tube. He asked her to come to help him and she complied, following him into the room. As soon as they entered the space, he closed the door behind them and touched her forehead & back softly with the palms of his hands. Suddenly, an intense glow emitted from his fingers, entering the nurse's body swiftly and exiting just as fast. He left her go and the nurse turned to Clark & Lex with a smile.
"Hello, I am Rachel," she stated softly. "I am Ken-Yel's wife. I have been hidden inside of this body, ready to appear, when Jor-El told Ken-Yel it was the right time. My husband tells me you are a breeder, Kal-El. I am very proud of you. Life-mate, you should be just as proud of him."
"I am very proud of my husband." Lex retorted, feeling somewhat offended by her comment.
"I do not mean to insult you, Kal-El's life-mate. If I did, forgive me. I have never seen a love of your kind."
"It's alright. My family doesn't see our union as a marriage anyways."
"Does not the law of this place say you are connubial?"
"It does, but my father doesn't consider two men in love & being for life, as 'correct'."
"He is an unwise man, Life-mate. He should be punished for his hate."
"Just let him be and don't make him mad. Pissing him off will only make everything worse."
"I will respect your wishes, Life-mate."
"And, about you calling me 'life-mate', my name is Lex Luthor. Please call me by my first name."
"Is your real name 'Lex' or is that a shortening for your given name?"
"It's a shortening. My first name is Alexander."
"Then, I will call you 'Alexander'. Is that expectable?"
"Yes, that's fine. Thank you."
She nodded as she moved over to Clark's side, stating, "Kal-El, we will now take an image of your stomach to see how your child is progressing, are you ready?"
Clark shook his head, knowing this would be the first moment that he and Lex would be to see their child. He was anxious, but he wanted to see if it was alright.

Rachel got Clark prepped quickly, and before he knew it, Dr. Klein pressed the ultrasound paddle on his stomach, searching around for his breeding uterus. Stopping suddenly, he clicked some of the keys on the computer's main keyboard. He turned the monitor towards Clark and Lex, stating, "Take a look at this. You two aren't just having one; you are having two."
The shock hadn't settled in yet for either gentleman. They were having twins. Two children to raise and love, it was an amazing miracle.
"I was never able to conceive twins, Clark," Dr. Klein retorted in his normal, non-Kryptonian voice. "You are a marvel of breeding."
"I am? I'm a marvel?" The young man questioned.
"Why, yes, Kal-El. My husband tried to have two children for us, as did many other Kryptonians, but none were successful. You are the first, you should be very proud."
"We are, Rachel; we are happy and I think we are ready for this, aren't we, Lex?"
"I hope so. Twins, Clark, we are having two kids. I can't believe it." He answered to his husband.
"I can't believe it either, hun. Dr. Klein, do they look healthy?"
"From the looks of things, I would say they are perfectly fine." The physician replied. "Would you like to hear their heartbeats?"
"We would love to." Lex responded for the both of them.
With that answer, Dr. Klein placed the heart monitor on Clark's currently flat belly, finding the heartbeats swiftly. The two men listened to the constant thrumps and bumps of each of their children's hearts, surprised by the noises and glad to know they were going to be all right.
