Clark had been pregnant for what, at least to him, felt like forever. Ken-Yel, the friendly neighborhood Kryptonian physician, otherwise known as Dr. Klein, had placed him on bed-rest, because of the size of his belly and the strain that it was putting on his back. Putting Clark on bed-rest felt like a death sentence and Ken-Yel knew it. Upon hearing of his husband's plight, Lex took an extended vacation from the office, promising to work from home to be closer to Clark in his time of need. "Honey, you don't have to do this, you know. I'll be fine on my own. Even if I'm not, Mom is more than capable of coming here everyday to stay with me. My dad won't mind, trust me. Besides that, you'll hate working from home. You've said it yourself before, 'Working from home is like working for nothing and nobody.' You're gonna hate it." Clark stated loudly as he lay in bed, rubbing a throbbing bump on the left side of his belly. Getting no response from his significant other, he started to talk again, "Lex, don't give me the silent treatment. You know it's true." "Clark, can you not act like a 20-year-old for once?" The tall gent responded, exiting their expansive closet, wearing a pair of blue jeans, a baseball-style tee shirt with the words "Met. U." emblazoned on the front in the school's colors and a pair of running shoes. "I'm staying here with you and working from home to be with you, and that's final. Understand me?" "Yes, Father."
The young man's sarcasm wasn't lost on Lex, who gave him an unamused look as he approached the side of the king-size bed, where he laid. Lex sat on the edge of it and looked at him softly. "Clark, you need to understand that I'm doing this for us and for the twins. What would happen if you went into labor and I was on a business trip to Tokyo or someplace? How would I get home in time to see you bring our children into the world?" He stated, placing his hand on his husband's cheek. "That's why I'm working from home. I want to be here for you every step of the way." "Do you have to work today?" Clark questioned quietly. "Sadly, honey, yes. I have a video-conference in half an hour with the shareholders, which also means that my father will be involved, so I have to." "Why can't Lionel just understand that you're going to become a dad in a matter of weeks and you need some time off?" "He's a business man, Clark. On one hand, all he knows is business and that's all he cares to know." "And on the other hand?"
"On the other hand, babe, he's an ignorant, arrogant son-of-a-bitch, who doesn't care about his children, let alone his soon-to-be grandchildren." "And, the fact that his son is married to another man, who is pregnant with said grand-children, probably factors in as well." "Oh, yeah, most definitely..."
Both men smiled at one another lovingly, knowing that the facts about Lionel's hatred of Lex and his marriage to Clark were true. Lex leaned into his husband softly, kissing him on the lips. As he did that, he placed his hand gently on Clark's tummy. One of the twins began to kick repeatedly in the direction of Lex' palm. "Oh, this one over here's gonna be a soccer player." Clark stated lightly, putting his hand on top of Lex's. "It's a Luthor. Luthors have legs of steel." The millionaire retorted. "Lex, we can't just keep calling them 'it one' and 'it two'." "Hey, you were the one who didn't want to find out what sex they were." "Whatever, babe, you were the one who said that we should be surprised that we are getting anything. I wanted to know, and now that we don't, the suspense is killing me." "It won't be for very much longer, hun. Ken-Yel told me that you're very close to term, which is a relief." "Yeah, for me. You don't have to push two human beings out of your body." "Clark, you might luck out on the natural childbirth. The good doc also said that one of the twins is turned slightly the wrong direction, which means C-section." "Oh, let's pray for that. I hope both turn the wrong direction." Lex chuckled lightly, knowing the pain that Clark was in. He kissed him again, before placing his hand on the other side of his belly to feel the other twin kick. "So, what are we going to name these two?" Lex questioned as Twin B kicked around his hand a bit. "I was thinking maybe we should name one after someone special." Clark answered. "How bout Lillian after my mother?"
"It's a good idea, babe, but I think your dad would nip that one in the butt permanently." "That's a likely scenario. He'd probably go to court to get an injunction against us, wanting to name our child after his dearly departed wife." "And, we really don't want to deal with a court preceding right now." "That's very true."
"How about Alek?"
"Alek, huh? Alek...I kinda like that. How 'bout Alek-Jerome?" "You want him to have my middle name?"
"No, not as a middle name though. It would be a part of his first name, so I can call him 'A.J.'" "That does sound pretty nice. How 'bout Alek-Jerome Kent Luthor?" "That's sounds very good to me. So, we have it settled that the first son will be named A.J., correct?" "Yep, but what about a girl's name?"
"Well, other than Lillian, there's my maternal grandmother's name, which is pretty nice." "And, what's that?"
"Camille Grace."
"That's a nice name, honey. How 'bout my maternal grandmother's name: Lynn Elizabeth?" "Lynn...very classic. I like that, but let's not make any decisions on the girl's name, because we don't even know if we're having a girl at all." "We don't know about having a boy either." "Very true. Let's just make a list of names, and go from there." "Good."
And, with that, Clark yawned, signaling to Lex that it was time for the pregnant Kryptonian one to rest. He kissed Clark's forehead softly, as he began to drift off to sleep. Lex crept out of the room quietly, making sure not to wake his slumbering husband, knowing the repercussions that would bring. He traveled downstairs to the den in silence, ready to prepare for the meeting. XxxxxxXxxxxxX
The morning left and the afternoon appeared at the Luthor estate. Lex was busy in the den, finishing up his video-conference, as Martha entered the room, carrying heavy bags of stuff in her hands. "Afternoon, Lex." She stated lightly as she set down the gear and grabbed a bottle of water from the stand next to the pool table. "Martha...how are things at the farm?" He questioned, getting up from his seat behind his desk. "Quiet, since you two aren't there anymore. I have some exciting stuff to show you and Clark. Where is he...upstairs?" "Yep, that's where I left him, trying to get some sleep." "How did the morning meeting go?"
"Like it always goes: my father tells the group that I'm too caught up in my personal life to run the company, then the group tells my father that he's the same way. Tons of petty bickering occurs back & forth, and after a while, we finally get stuff done as per the usual." "Well, good...as long as it wasn't boring." "Oh, most definitely. So, what did you bring us?" "I brought you both gifts that were left at my house by friends of the family, i.e. Chloe & Lana, among many others." "Really? Why didn't they just come to the mansion and drop them off?" "They were on their way out of town to head back to school, so they just left them here, knowing that I come over here to see you two." "Ahh...have you spoken Lois lately?"
"No, but I got a letter from her with a photo of the twins. Here, I brought it with me." She pulled the card and photo from her purse, handing it to Lex swiftly. He looked at the picture and smiled. "They are so cute and they are getting so big." He stated lightly. "How old are they now?" "Three months and she wrote that they are getting bigger everyday." She answered. "That's great. I'm happy for her and Brian." "Good. Now, let's get upstairs, so you guys can open your gifts." "I'm right behind you."

Making it down the hallway, Lex and Martha both heard a slow moaning noise. As they got closer to the bedroom, the noise got louder and deeper. "Martha, stay out here. I'll go in to see what's going on." He stated to her. "Be careful, Lex. I don't want to see either of you hurt." She answered. Lex opened the door slowly, moving towards the bed to see that Clark wasn't there. "Clark!" He stated loudly. "Clark, where are you?" "Lex!" A masculine voice strained back. "I'm in...I'm in here!" The millionaire moved towards the bathroom, hearing the moans coming from inside. He opened the door swiftly to see his husband, lying in a tub full of water, grasping his stomach. "Clark, babe..." He started to say.
"Lex...call Ken-Yel." The younger man groaned. "Why? What's wrong?"
"I think...I think it's time."
"'Time'? Time for what?"
Suddenly, it hit him...hard.
"Oh my God..." Lex began, before opening the door and yelling, "Martha, help! We need you! It's time!" The woman ran into the room and saw her son in the tub, wrenching in pain. "It's time, are you serious?" She questioned. "Yes, Mom...you're gonna be a grandma." Clark answered, as another contraction hit. "Oh, sweetheart...remember your breathing exercises; it eases the pain." "I'm trying."
Clark did his exercises, as Lex dialed a number on his cell phone. "I'm calling Dr. Klein now, and then, I'll call Jonathan." The millionaire spoke up. "Thank you, honey." Clark responded, as he continued to do his breathing. "You're welcome, babe."
He leaned over to kiss his husband's forehead, but he was stopped by the younger man's hand. "No kisses please. Not now..." He spoke up. Lex stepped back with a worried, saddened look on his face. "Lex, don't worry about it. All pregnant women go through the 'no-kissing' phase during labor." Martha retorted to her son-in-law. "It'll pass, trust me. I've seen it." "Well, I would hope so..."
Lex exited the room as his call finally got through to the doctor's office. After chatting with the doc for a while, Lex dialed the Kent house, knowing the number by heart. When he got the answering machine, he left a brief albeit urgent message: "Hey, Jon. It's Lex. You'd better get over to the mansion right now! It's time to be a 'Grandpa'! We're gonna have some babies!!!"
