~o00o~

He was blindfolded, kneeling on the cold cement floor, arms shackled to the wall, trying desperately to get free. He should have listened to Lex, who had tried to warn him about coming in unprepared. It hadn't been until he was inside this building, inside the steel room that Clark had realized his mistake and by then it had been too late. Too late for both of them, for his other mistake had been in bringing Lex with him. Lex, who now lay unconscious on the floor.

Clark again pulled at the clasp and their steel chains that held him in place, fighting the nausea, the weakness his body felt whenever he was in close proximity to the green meteorites.

Using his x-ray vision, Clark tried to focus, tried to see through the blindfold and to the two men who stood a few feet away from them, standing by a table and a green artefact in the shape of an eagle. A glowing green eagle.

Lex moaned softly. They had both been hit on the back of the head. Neither had heard their captors approach. Lex had been too busy helping Clark get back on his feet, too concerned at Clark's sudden weakness.

"Looks like sleeping beauty is finally awake," one of the men said as they walked toward them.

"Clark?" Lex moaned, breathing uneven. They must have hit Lex again after they shackled him to the wall, Clark thought, for the first time seeing the bruises on his friend's face.

"Shouldn't have come here, Luthor." Hands reached to unchain Lex only to then drag the young man to the table, restraining him, all the while his friend fought and protested.

Clark pulled desperately at the harness. "Get away from him," he shouted and was ignored.

The men laid Lex on the table, one of them holding Lex's arms just above his head, pinning him down. The other man took out his pocket-knife, trailing it down Lex's blue shirt, cutting it.

:Thump: :Thump: :Thump:

From this short distance Clark could hear Lex rapid heartbeat, smell his fear.

"Let go of me!" Lex screamed, trying to kick one of his captors; but he was back-handed despite his efforts.

"You'll pay for that, bitch!" the man screamed as he spread Lex's legs apart, using his knife to cut through the fabric.

"No!" Clark cried out. He had to get to Lex. Had to get to him before they ...

Ripped pants tossed aside, both men quickly undressing from the waist down, using Lex's tie to choke him, bending Lex's legs, leaving him vulnerable.

"Pretty mouth made for fucking," said one of the captors as he laughed.

"Put that thing in my mouth and I'll bite it off." Lex was fighting, showing bravado but deep down Clark knew he was scared.

"Can't bite, if you are choking to death," the captor warned.

And then the other man aligned his cock along Lex opening, pushing in. Lex screamed. A scream that was soon muffled and Clark closed his eyes, tears forming, not able, not strong enough to witness Lex's rape.

This was all his fault. Lex had insisted that something did not feel right about this place, that there was still a great deal they did not know about Level Three, but Clark had ignored Lex's advice, rushing in, trusting his abilities. Abilities that were no longer with him. That had failed him as soon as he entered this steel trap.

Lex still struggled. Still fought, but he was having trouble breathing and he gave a muffled cry.

Clark tried to ignore the sounds the other two men were making, of balls hitting ass, of moans and whispers, "You're so tight."

Clark flexed his muscles but it was of no use. And just as he thought things could not get any worse, Lex's heart beat slowed.

Clark opened his eyes, seeing through the blindfold, ignoring everything but the fact Lex was suffocating from the stranglehold of the tie wrapped around his neck. Focusing on that tie. Blinking rapidly. Felt his eyes twitch.

Feeling a smouldering heat. Then his eyes burned.

Paying no attention to the pain and the smell of burnt cloth around his face, only seeing the tie the captor held in his hand, the tie he kept pulling at every time he entered, thrust into Lex's mouth. Concentrating on the tie. The man's hand.

The other captor shouted to his partner in warning.

Heat. Fire. A new talent now appeared in his arsenal. Hope filled him. They might just get out of here alive.

"God, damn it!" the man shouted as he dropped the tie, looking down at his injured hand, stepping away from Lex's body, then screaming in horror as he burst into flames and was reduced to ashes.

The smell of scorched flesh filled the room, triggering the fire alarm. Water sprinkled down at them. The other man still alive, in Lex, pushed Lex aside and rushed toward the door, awkwardly as he tried to pull his pants back up.

"Die," whispered Clark calmly, observing intently, feeling his eyes tingle, twinge, seeing the man writhe to the floor, glowing, being devoured by the flame that consumed him.

Clark now wet looked away and this time focused on the chain holding him, melting the steel, crawling toward Lex, ignoring the dying man's scream, fighting the pain as he approached the table and the meteorite rock. Fighting the nausea.

Hands deforming. Blood pulsating. Difficulty breathing and all that mattered was getting to Lex.

Lex.

Lex.

Lex.

Using the last of his energies to knock the glowing green artefact away, to the corner of the room. Taking Lex in his arms, slowly getting up, then dropping to the wet floor, still to weak.

Crawling to the exit with Lex, paying no heed to the body burnt to a crisp. Trying to get out of the steel room. Something wrong. Cannot longer hear Lex's heart beat. Clark looked down at Lex and realised his friend was not breathing.

No. No. No.

Bending down Clark touched Lex's lips with his own. He then quickly spit to the floor. God, for a moment he had forgotten the other man had ...

Again he bent down, fighting the images of what had happened to Lex and breathes into him. Nothing. Seconds pass but to Clark it seems like minutes, hours. He trembled and shook with fear, trying to fight the uneasy feeling rising from the pit of his stomach that maybe he is too late. In the distance the fire alarm dies down.

"Breathe, damn you. Breathe!" Clark cries, holding Lex. "Can't ... don't leave me like this. Please." Tilted Lex's head, ignoring the taste of the other man's cum on Lex's lips.

Forcing air into Lex's lungs. Again and Again. And hearing nothing. Just silence.

Setting Lex down on the floor. Putting both his hands just above Lex's chest and pushing down.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five.

"Breathe!" Nothing.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five.

"I once gave you life. We had a deal remember," whispered Clark hearing in the back of his mind Lex's voice, 'Our friendship will be the stuff of legends.'

Pushing down, unable to focus, tears forming in his eyes, running down his face. Unable to see the blood coming out of Lex's mouth, from a cut he had received during the rape. Unable to hear the foot steps of someone approaching them, until they lay a hand on his shoulder, gently wrapping their arms around him.

Strong arms. Father's arms.

Taking him away from this nightmare, moving Clark out of this steel room and those rocks, still holding onto Lex.

"I'm so sorry, son. So sorry." Being repeated again and again. His father, Jonathan, holding him as medics took Lex away, rushing his injured friend to the ambulance, car starting ...

Being wrapped in blankets, ignoring everything but the sight of the ambulance speeding toward the hospital, attaching Lex to equipment. Hearing nothing but the sounds of medics, talking, forcing air into lungs. Hearing nothing but silence. Deathly silence. Knowing it was too late.

:Thump:

Faint. Weak.

:Thump:

And Clark flew.
